Boiler Problems to be Aware of This Winter

Boiler systems have a ton of advantages when it comes to heating, which is why they’ve been used for so many decades. Just like any other system, though, they can still run into problems. If you’re using a boiler to keep warm this winter, you’ll want to keep an eye out for certain problems that can crop up. The sooner you can get these boiler problems repaired, the more damage you can prevent. With that in mind, let’s take a look at some of the issues that can affect your boiler system.

Pump Issues

Rather than an air handler, a boiler system makes use of a circulation pump to move hot water throughout the house. There are a number of issues that can affect this pump, including leaks and flow imbalances. The end result of these problems is that the pump can’t maintain proper circulation of water through the system. If you notice that your home isn’t being heated as well as it should be, it might be that your boiler is having a pump problem.

Leaks in the Pipes

Boiler-based heating systems rely on a pipe network to move water throughout the house, which are installed in the walls and subfloor of each room. If these pipes develop leaks, they’re going to cause a number of problems like loss of heat and water damage. If part of a wall or floor seems to be leaking or wet, it might indicate a leak in the pipe underneath. A hissing or gurgling sound is also common, as it indicates air bubbles in the pipes. If you notice this happening, turn your boiler off and call for repairs.

If your boiler is having issues, call Saddleback Plumbing. We offer comprehensive boiler repair services throughout Trabuco Canyon, CA.
