Watch for These Furnace Problems for the Next Few Months

Even in California, the demand on furnaces during the winter can cause a lot of problems. You probably don’t want your furnace to break down on you in the middle of one of the coldest months of the year, so it’s a good idea to keep a close eye on your system for any problems that may develop. You should know the warning signs of some of the most common furnace issues, so that you can respond to them as quickly as possible.

Failure to Start

Failing to start is a common furnace issue, one that affects both gas and electrical systems. If it’s a gas system, it’s possible that your pilot light is out. If so, it should be a simple affair to relight it. If your pilot light won’t relight, or if it won’t stay relit, then you likely have a bigger problem that needs professional repair. If your electric furnace isn’t starting, check to make sure that the circuit breaker is not tripped. If it isn’t, call for repairs.

Dropping Output

If your furnace isn’t providing as much heat as it should be, you may have an air handler problem. That’s when the system can’t physically move enough air throughout the house. You may also have a problem with your burner assembly, or with your heating coil if you have an electric furnace. Regardless, low output is definitely a sign that your system is having trouble of some kind. You should have a professional examine it to make sure nothing is seriously wrong with the system.

Saddleback Plumbing offers furnace repair services throughout the Laguna Hills, CA area. If your furnace is having issues of any kind, call today to schedule an appointment. We’ll make sure that your system is restored to proper operation as quickly as possible.
