What to Do About Cool Spots in Your Home

Sitting on your couch watching TV should be an enjoyable experience, especially after a long day at the office. But, if your air conditioner deposits an abnormally high volume of cold air directly onto your couch, making you shiver despite the 90 degree heat outside, you may have a cool spot. Cool spots are an unfortunate side effect of modern air conditioning technology. They often occur when HVAC systems are improperly sized or ductwork is improperly installed. Other factors like insulation, vent configuration or window placement can also contribute to the presence of a cool spot (and possibly some hot spots). So, what can you do about it?

Checking for the Problem

Your technician will check a number of things. In the case of cool spots, the problem may be related to a number of different issues. If you have a zone control system installed, it could be a malfunctioning damper that’s causing one area of your home to be much cooler than the other.  If you also notice that your AC short-cycles, then it could be that your AC is over-sized. If it’s an older system, you may want to consider replacing it entirely. Your technician will also look for vent placement and duct configuration. Improper configuration of vents can lead to cool spots.

The Sooner You Call for AC repair, the Better

If you find that you simply cannot enjoy all that your AC has to offer because it’s just too cold in some areas, and too hot in others, then it’s important that you reach out to a quality HVAC technician on our team. We can make certain that your cool spot problems disappear. But we have to know there is a problem in the first place in order to dispatch one of our technicians.

Don’t hesitate to call Saddleback Plumbing today for all of your air conditioning repair and replacement needs in Mission Viejo.
