Signs that You Might Have a Slab Leak

Slab leaks are one of the most damaging problems that can afflict a home’s plumbing. Unfortunately, they’re also one of the most difficult problems to detect and fix. The best way to protect against slab leaks is to keep an eye out for the signs that accompany them. The faster you can identify a warning sign that you have a slab leak, the faster you can have it repaired and the more damage you can prevent. Let’s take a look at some of the signs that you might have a slab leak.

Water From Under Your Floor

If you have water coming up from under your home’s floor, that’s a sure sign that you have a slab leak. When the pipes under a slab leak or rupture, the water will filter up through the slab and into your home. Within a very short amount of time, these slab leaks can cause an incredible amount of damage to the floors in your home. Call for repairs immediately if you notice this happening.

Rising Water Bills

Another very easy way to check for slab leaks is to keep an eye on your water bills. Very often, a large slab leak will result in an accompanying rise in water bills. Even if water isn’t gushing up from under your floor, you should call for slab leak detection services if you notice a spike in your water bills.

Running Water Meter

One final way to tell if you have a slab leak is to turn off all the water in your home and look at your water meter. If the meter is still running, it means that you have a leak somewhere in your system. Call for repairs right away to limit water damage.
