Watch for These Ductless Problems This Summer

If you’re using a ductless system to keep cool this summer, you should be aware of some of the problems it may run into. The more you rely on a system, the more strain is placed on it and the greater the likelihood for problems to occur. If you know what symptoms to look for that indicate a problem, you can call for repairs faster and save your system a lot of damage. Let’s take a look at some of the common indications that your ductless system needs repairs.

Dropping Output

If your ductless system doesn’t seem to be putting out as much cold air as it should be, it may be because you have a refrigerant leak somewhere in your system. Refrigerant is the core of the ductless system, as it is for most air conditioning systems. The ductless system recycles refrigerant between its indoor and outdoor units in order to move heat from one place to the other. If a leak starts draining refrigerant from the system, it will cause the output of the unit to drop. It can also cause the entire system to break down eventually, so don’t wait to call for repairs if you notice this happening.

Strange Noises

If you’ve had your ductless unit for more than a few months, you’re probably familiar with the kinds of sounds that it makes during operation. If you notice any strange noises coming from the system while it’s operating, do not ignore them. Strange noises indicate that one or more parts in the system are not operating as they should, which means that you need to call for a professional to come look at them. Otherwise, you could end up paying quite a bit more for repairs in the long run.
